Private Preschool (and Elementary) Seats and Open Houses

Children's Studio Preschool and Childcare in Bedford Stuyvesant may have openings for 2 - 5 year olds. They offer full and half day programs. Go to the site or call (718) 764-8317 for more information.

The Dillon Child Study Center at St. Joseph's College has some limited openings in its half day three's afternoon program and its full day fours program starting in September. Visit the http://www.sjcny.edu/Dillon for details or call 718-940-5678.

Eladia's Kids has many openings. Their Park Slope location has 2s, 3s and 4s spots. Their Infant/Toddler School has openings for 12 -28 month olds. The Fort Greene/Clinton Hill location has openings for 2s, 3s and 4s. Contact the Director, Peggy L. Rodgriguez at peggy@eladiaskids.com

Kings Bay Y at North Williamsburg has openings in their 2s, 3s and 4s classes. Contact Preschool Director, Linda Herman at lherman@kingsbayy.org or 718-407-6388.

Lango has spots open in their Mandarin and Spanish immersion preschool this coming fall. The program is for kids 2- 4 yrs old. They have open house every Monday and Wednesday from now till August 15th at 11am. For more information, contact Becky at beiyi@langokidsnyc.com.

Little Nest Preschool in Kensington has spots open in their 2s and 3s class. Also 2, 3 or 5 day options for Prek (possible UPK seats available). Summer Camp seats are still open for full and half day. Contact Gabrielle Napoliatono at gabby@littlenestpreschool.com or call 718-484-0033.

Occupy Playschool has several spots for the 2014-15 school year for 3 & 4-year olds. Class meets Tuesday, Wednesday, & Thursday from 9-2. Occupy Playschool is a play-based program. Padre Kennedy Early Childhood Development Center in south Williamsburg with a Montessori approach and UPK funding has openings for 3-5 years olds. For more information contact the school at 718-388-3434.

Gifted and Talented tests are given during the summer for children born in 2008 and 2009 who moved to the city after Nov. 8, 2013. Contact the G&T office at 718-935-2009.

PS 307 in Vinegar Hill has many Pre-K spots available. You can apply directly at the school during the month of July.

CEC Meeting, important for all current and future PS 130 parents (or anyone living in Windsor Terrace or Kensington regarding the new school being built on E.8th St. between Kermit and Caton will be held this Tuesday, July 15th at 6:30pm at PS 130, 70 Ocean Parkway.

High School Choice: Calm and Clear Talk

My talk translates the DOE's "script" describing how the process actually works, talking about the data available and how to manage and organize it. Also, you get my culled list of approx. 70 programs that are interesting possibilities for college bound kids from Brooklyn and Manhattan. It will prepare you for the NY High School Fair, tours and choices in the fall. This talk is for both public and private school families. I will do my best to help you laugh in the face of adversity.

BUGS: Brooklyn Urban Garden Charter School has a long term lease in the Bishop Ford building and is not affected by the school closing. Their lottery was held in the spring. Contact them to get on the end of the wait list.

Basis Independent Brooklyn is a K-10th grade program (growing to 12th grade).
They will have all grades through 10th grade starting this fall. Contact them for information about admissions.

Basis is introducing a Merit Scholarship Program for grades 6-8 in Fall of 2014.

Brooklyn Lab Charter School in downtown Brooklyn. This is a new college prep charter school opening in fall of 2014 for 6th grade. They are still accepting applications.

Greene Hill School may have openings in the 6th grade class for next year. Contact Laurie Baum, Middle School Director for more information.
