I delayed the newsletter until prek seats were announced because I knew that private seats would become available. Not all schools remember to list with me, so if you don't find the one you like in this list, give them a call to see if anything is available.

Brooklyn Apple Academy in the South Slope has openings for the fall for students age 5.5-8.5yr. The school is an especially good match for parents who have had a positive experience with pre-k coop schools. Significant (non-need-based) scholarships available for 3rd and 4th graders with significant background in French. Needs-based financial aid is available for all grades. Trilok School in Ft. Greene has spots left for 3 year olds. They also have some spots open for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grades. They are accepting applications for summer camp for 2-10 yr olds. Info at that website.

Decision letters have gone out. The wait lists won't move until after June 20 when pre-registration ends. They probably won't move a lot, but miracles do happen. (Kindergarten is different - there is often quite a lot of movement in many schools)

PS 18 D14 in Williamsburg is starting a Dual Language Spanish program in the fall. They have kindergarten and prek seats available. Contact Principal Alexander for more information AAlexan4@schools.nyc.gov
PS 147 D14 in Williamsburg, has gotten an extra prek class. They are hoping to start a Dual Language Japanese program in the near future. Contact them to see if there are any seats available.

Middle & High School
My talk translates the DOE's "script" describing how the process actually works, talking about the data available and how to manage and organize it. Also, you get my culled list of approx. 70 programs that are interesting possibilities for college bound kids from Brooklyn and Manhattan. It will prepare you for the NY High School Fair, tours and choices in the fall. This talk is for both public and private school families. I will do my best to help you laugh in the face of adversity.

Basis is introducing a Merit Scholarship Program for grades 6-8 in Fall of 2014.
Brooklyn Lab Charter School in downtown Brooklyn. This is a new college prep charter school opening in fall of 2014 for 6th grade. They are still accepting applications.
