By Joyce Szuflita
You have until Fri. April 24 to apply for Universal Prek.
You can apply online here or at a Family Welcome Center or by phone 718-935-2067
You can find the Prek Directories here but there are also Updated Directories with many new seats available.
I have listed some notable changes below. This is not a comprehensive guide. You need to scour the lists for yourself.

Notable additions and changes in District 13:
The Quest School a private preschool in Clinton Hill that is opening with 80 FD seats
PS 11 in Clinton Hill is expanding to 72 FD seats
Community Partnership Charter is opening 18 FD seats (charter schools are sometimes included in the regular application, sometimes you do the lottery through the school)

Notable additions and changes in District 14:
Queen of the Rosary Catholic Academy is opening with 40 FD seats
PS 16 is expanding to 72 FD seats
Brooklyn Arbor is expanding to 36 FD seats
Beginning With Children Charter is adding new 18 FD seats
Success Academy Williamsburg is adding a new 18 FD seats

There are a lot of new options in District 15:
Brooklyn Treehouse in the south slope is expanding to 36 FD seats
Little Bell Child Care in Sunset Park is opening with 72 FD seats
St. Francis Xavier in the north slope is converting 36 HD to FD seats
TLC is opening with 32 FD seats
PS 130 in Kensington is converting 36 HD to FD seats
PS 172 in Sunset Park is converting 36 HD to FD seats
PS 230 in Kensington is converting 72 HD to FD seats
Prek Center @ Bishop Ford is going to be a whopping 378 FD seats!!
PS 295 is converting 54 HD to FD seats
Sunset Park Aves. is converting 54 HD to FD seats
Prek Center at 4222 4th Ave. (Sunset Park Aves building) will open with 162 FD seats
Prek Center at 701 Caton Ave. (the new 130 upper school building) will open with 108 FD seats
Prek Center at 211 8th St. (PS 118 building) will open with 66 FD seats

The new Prek Centers that are housed in other school buildings will not be part of those elementary schools and will not give priority for k. They are stand alone programs, but if they are half the quality of the Center @ Bishop Ford you will be very lucky parents.

Remember, rank the schools in the order that you like them. Ranking a school #1 doesn't give you any special chance of getting that placement. Your chances of getting any school are based on the seats available, your admissions priority (sibs, in-zone, out of zone, etc.) and your luck in the lottery. If you get a placement in a zoned school (whether it is your zone or not) you will still have to reapply at kindergarten and while there is a tiny bump in priority for some out of zone families, attending a prek at a school does NOT guarantee you placement in that school for K. Good luck everyone!
