For families who didn't grow up here or just feel like they didn't because they have very little idea about what the deal is with public schools these days!

I will discuss the big picture with a big map:

  • what you need to know
  • when you need to know it
  • what to do when things go wrong
  • strategies and common practices, including the "the 5 things to do to keep from turning prematurely grey"

If you are confused about the difference between charter schools, magnet schools and dual language or unzoned programs and what is up with district-wide vs. city-wide gifted and talented or public prekindergarten, this may be the talk for you.  I don't discuss individual schools, but you will come away armed with lots of information to begin your school search with confidence.  Lots of time for school questions & answers.

$25 if you buy tickets online (link at left or in the upper right corner).
I can't guarantee that you will be admitted or have a chair if you don't buy a ticket ahead of time. Ticket sales are closed 6 hours prior to the event. If you have trouble buying a ticket or you tried to buy a ticket after sales have ended, you must RSVP by email joyce@nycschoolhelp.com so that I can confirm you will have a chair.
Two different talks may be listed, so make sure you find the one you want.
